When Mama Pickles was found wandering alone in early September, she appeared to be in desperate need of assistance. The two-year-old pregnant bulldog was in a vulnerable state, and animal control had to swiftly remove her from the street and try to determine her origin. They were able to locate her owner, who heartlessly decided to abandon her at a shelter and stop caring about her well-being.
Mama Pickles is a pregnant dog who requires special attention that the shelter cannot provide. Luckily, pits & Giggles rescue has stepped in to support pregnant and nursing females. Upon arrival, Mama Pickles was warmly welcomed by Bulldog who showered her with affection and kisses like a true friend. Despite the difficulty of moving around with a heavy belly, Mama Pickles does not let it stop her. Volunteer Lauren Casteen Sykes describes her as a “bull in a china shop” but notes that Mama Pickles still wags her tail, gives warm kisses, and shows an unwavering desire to be close to her caregivers. Undoubtedly, she is a charming girl with a strange sparkle in her eyes.
Photography. She kindly took her time to capture beautiful images of rescued dogs and puppies and support their adoption process. When Mama Pickles came to the rescue, everyone knew she was the perfect person for a warm photo of a pregnant woman. The result exceeded everyone’s expectations and surprised everyone.
Mama Pickles was too excited during the shoot, making it difficult for her to stay still. Sykes mentioned that “She’s nervous and full of energy! She loved being pampered and treated, and was eager to participate in the shoot. The biggest challenge is keeping her posture steady because everyone loves her so much!”. Despite the challenge of keeping her still, the charming moments captured in the photos are very captivating. Mama Pickles’ intimate nature and radiant personality shine through, creating truly fascinating images.
While filming, Sykes had a hilarious time trying to direct Mama Pickles’ acting. Every time he asked her to strike a pose, she would exaggerate it to the extreme with elegance and intensity. However, her clumsy movements and happy-go-lucky demeanor often ruined the intended grace. It became an entertaining spectacle that everyone on set enjoyed participating in.
Sykes couldn’t help but burst into laughter at the hilarious scene before his eyes. “This is so funny,” he shared. Mom Pickles is all about that belly, and her adorable clumsiness makes it even more amusing. While it’s not hard to keep her in place, getting her to stay long enough to capture the perfect picture has proven to be quite a challenging task! Her hoops constantly bend, fall off, and even cause her to trip. We couldn’t stop laughing when she made her appearance in the cartoon. The whole experience is a gentle kind of fun, and Mama Pickles’ antics add an extra layer of appeal to an otherwise very enjoyable shoot.
Despite this, Sykes managed to take some pictures of the beautiful and charming soon-to-be proud mother. He was touched when Mama Pickles finally received the love and recognition she deserved. “She’s a model,” said Sykes. Although her legs are certainly too short to perform on stage, she really enjoys all the attention and affection. After the shoot, all that was left to do was wait for Mama Pickles’ baby to arrive – they didn’t have to wait long! Last weekend, Mama Pickles gave birth to eight healthy puppies, all wonderful little girls like their mother. After giving Mama Pickles and her puppies some time to rest and relax, Sykes and everyone on the rescue team decided it would be appropriate to take just one picture of a baby as the next part of the first shot, this time with Mama Pickles even more proud of her adorable puppy. She is an incredible mother who always ensures her little daughter is safe, takes care of herself every step of the way, and everyone is proud of the excellent job she has done.
It takes several months for Mama Pickles and her adorable puppy to be ready for adoption, as they eagerly await their forever home. Throughout this period, rescue workers and volunteers shower them with love and care to ensure that Mama Pickle is a safe haven.
